Thank you all for your help and input, I was finally able to throw the car up on the ramps and remove the belly
pan. I checked the front pump first (V188 I believe it is).
The connector essentially slid right off when I pulled on it,
which I found weird as almost every other VW connection you need to press a tab,
lift a lock pin or squeeze it somehow lol.
So I sprayed some electrical contact cleaner on both connections and pushed it back on.
It wasn't "clicking" into place so I did it again. The 3rd time,
it clicked into position and the pump actually
kicked in and was whining very faintly (this is with the vehicle turned off).
The Pump C or third pump in the Passat B8 (V188) is the electric coolant pump.
It plays a crucial role in maintaining optimal engine temperature by circulating coolant through the system,
especially during low-load conditions or when the engine is off.
This pump ensures efficient heat dissipation and prevents overheating.
If you encounter any issues related to cooling,
it’s essential to check the functionality of this electric coolant pump.
The V188 pump in the Passat B8 is also known as the auxiliary charge pump.
It’s located in the front lower side of the engine, visible after removing the splash shield.
This pump assists with charge air cooling for improved performance. Additionally,
there’s another pump, the V488, which serves as the auxiliary heating pump and is positioned behind the engine.
Both auxiliary pumps share the same part number: 2Q0965567A. If you encounter issues related to these pumps,
consider checking their condition and replacing them as needed.
Keep in mind that the water pump design has undergone revisions,
so ensure you choose the appropriate replacement.

After fitting, at idle I read the charge via the OBD port at only 12.2v, so I reprogrammed the type to “Fleece” (that’s what VW calls an AGM) and it immediately rose to 13.7v at idle. People …Stop/Start cars need their AGM Battery programmed in in order for them to work as they should and not fail early - don’t listen to anyone that says they don’t need it, THEY DO.
